Negative Fluval Edge Reviews
Read a list of negative reviews on the Fluval Edge:
“Fluval (Hagen)has an almost winner here. When set up it looks stunning, the plants grow right out the top of the tank even with no CO2 and with the standard lighting, but! just try to maintain this tank and you will shortly begin looking for another tank. The provided access port is so small it is near impossible to clean the substrate, or work with plants. Catching a determined fast shrimp will have you looking for glass cutters! I hope that when Hagen creates a successor to this tank they find a way to allow useble access.”
“Of course this is an 8 gallon tank and not for beginners, but I have to say it is very stylish. I managed to put in a heater, a 6″ stone diffuser, and a moon light. You just have to work with the space in the center but I really like it. The filter is not the best but it is not that noisy either. Water is crystal clear, but the small access portal is a little harder to clean than your regular filter but NOT THAT much, gets some getting used to..”
“The only major problem we ran into was how warm our aquarium got with the halogen lighting. We had readings in the upper 80’s, and that’s with our temperature gauge at the bottom corner farthest from the lights! We actually ended up removing the original light set and just placing a mini-Coralife light over the access portal. Obviously, we had to live without the cover, but our water temps are suitable for the fish we’ve got in there now. Overall, though, a stylish addition to anyone’s home.”

I have the fluval edge and have had it 6 months. I this tank i have 10 head tail light tetra, 5 serpai tetra, 1 neon tetra, 2 coris, 1 clown loach, 1 siamese fighter and a few snails + plants not lost any fish and it looks awsome
Well i am not sure what the experiences are with fresh water setups but this tank is not made for saltwater….. i am not the only one in my area that has the same issue. The light housing is not moisture proof. my bulbs burned out weekly and got expensize. I started to notice rust on the top lid (metal mesh) and the connection spots where the bulbs plub in… this past week they burned out completely and connections dont work. i had to completely guy the arm that comes down with lights to somehow build a LED light setup that was water proof. i am still working on but all my corals have died…. cool looking tank but not made for saltwater
