Fish Mox -

Fish Mox is Amoxicillin and is sold in two strengths, 250 mg, which is called fish mox, and 500 mg which is called Fish Mox Forte.  Fish Mox is used to treat common bacterial infections in aquariums and for other fish illnesses.  It can be bought through multiple pet retailers online and is much cheaper than going to a vet for a prescription of the same strength amoxicillin…I’m not sure I’ve ever even heard of someone going to the vet for a pet fish.

The last part of the Fluval Edge Filter is the Fluval Edge Foam and Biomax Renewal Kit.  The foam insert is the bottom part of the filter and its main purpose is to filter out any particles or debris of fish waste or excess food that otherwise would be recirculated into your aquarium and cause ammonia levels to rise.  The biomax filter houses beneficial bacteria.  The biomax media is porous and the perfect consistency to allow beneficial to colonize in.  This biological filter is crucial in cycling your aquarium.  The beneficial bacteria break down fish waste and other chemicals that would otherwise poison your fish.

Fluval Edge Pre Filter Sponge

The Fluval Edge Pre Filter Sponge is a great way to add extra filtration to your aquarium, especially if it is new or hasn’t completely cycled.  The Pre Filter Sponge conveniently slides over the water suction intake on the filter.  This optional filter is very beneficial as it prevents debris such as food or fish waste from being sucked into the filter.  Not only does it filter out debris, but it also houses beneficial bacteria for added biological filtration for your aquarium.  This added biological filtration will help you keep low ammonia levels and also help in eliminating harmful chemicals that can kill your fish.  A great optional filter for any Fluval Edge aquarium.

Fluval Edge Fish Net

Today’s featured product is the Fluval Edge Fish Net.  This net is specially designed just for the design of the Fluval Edge Aquarium.  As we have learned from experience removing fish from the Edge with a net can prove a difficult task especially when your are up against a quick shrimp.  Trying to remove fish in the Edge with a regular fish net is close to impossible.  But it is possible to turn this battle of whits to your advantage with the Fluval Edge fish net.  The Fluval Edge Fish Net provides a wide variety of features for making maintenance work in the aquarium very convenient. Fluval Edge Algae Magnet

Its time for our first feature product post!  We decided to one that we really liked and worked really well.  The first ever featured product is the Fluval Edge Algae Magnet.  This magnet is great cleaning tool for the Fluval Edge.  Because of the shape and design of the tank cleaning can present a problem, especially on the sides and corners of the tank.  Using the magnetic algae cleaner significantly cuts the time that it takes to clean the Fluval Edge.  The magnetic algae cleaner’s rough inner surface gives the inside of the glass a good scrub removing all of the algae.  The scrubbing surface of the algae cleaner is large but slim.  This is very beneficial as the large surface area allows you to clean the tank quicker while also being able to see what your are cleaning.  Its sleek design allows you to reach all of the hard to clean areas like corners or behind rocks.  All in all the Fluval Edge Magnetic Algae cleaner is a great cleaning too and we couldn’t imagine trying to clean our Fluval Edge Aquarium without it.

I have the Burnt Orange Fluval Edge Aquarium with 3 panda cory’s, one small pleco, and a shrimp.  Right now I have some large Feng Shui Pebbles on the bottom, with a bunch of silk plants scattered throughout the tank.  In the next week or two I am planning on getting some sand and one of the fluval edge bamboo wall ornament decorations.

Since I have cory’s I dropped the water level about half an inch below the top of the aquarium, which I don’t like since condensation builds up on the top of the glass and you can’t see through the top, but if I keep the water level high the cory’s can’t get air when they try and swim to the surface.  I’ll probably transfer my cory’s to another tank in a couple weeks and put some different fish in my Fluval Edge.
