The Fluval Edge Pre Filter Sponge is a great way to add extra filtration to your aquarium, especially if it is new or hasn’t completely cycled. The Pre Filter Sponge conveniently slides over the water suction intake on the filter. Pre Filter Sponge
I am using the pre filter sponge because my fish had babies and it works great. This way none of the baby fish get sucked into the filter like they would without the sponge over the filter intake.
I’ve had my fluval edge tank for two years now ,its been trial and error , i just keep tetrus tiny fish now and dont seem to be loosing any now ,if you dont intend to breed any fish dont put the pre fillter on as it resticts the water flow to the main filter as it clogs up with waste uless your going to clean it every three days , i just do a 50% water change every 4 weeks now sorted . :¬) fogot to say how many tetres fish i have in 5 blue neons 5 rednose neons and one little sucker fish which are quite happy now.
